On to Little Downham where Chatty and Spider contested their first Novice and Tula and Oliver their second. Spider found it all a bit much, so its back down a level to regain some confidence. Chatty however loved it and finished 10th with a simply outstanding cross country round! Oliver jumped his socks off to finish 4th which is so exciting..he is such fun, and such a character! Tula was in the lead going into X country having jumped a lovely clear showjumping, but it wasn't to be her day when I had to circle at the double of corners having got in a muddle at the first part. She didn't know she had done anything wrong, so I'm not worried, but still a bit of a shame!
We have been out eventing again!! With Aston affiliated cancelled, we did not hold out much hope for the unaffiliated, but it ran and the going was great. Bramble (Rough Diamond) contested his first event and was a super star. He behaved immaculatley with a 27.5 dressage and really good double clear. He could have been second, but I took him steady across country as it was his first outing, and, to me it is so important not to scare him or create bad habits such as being strong at this early/critical period in his career, so he finished outside the placings, but I am thrilled and so excited about his future! Sarah Brewster came along with her mare Roxy, and we had a really fun day!
I took eight horses to Tracey Dillons this week, a fabulous training facility with a massive school, full of showjumps and simulated cross country fences and a water jump and bank in the middle...great fun. Worth a mention is Delia who jumped her first ditch and went through her first water fence. She is so sweet!
I had Cekatinka running in the incredibly hot Lycetts Five Year old class. She was amazing posting the best dressage and a good double clear to win the section by two marks. She has run steadily this year with her future in mind, and it was great to let the handbrake off a bit to be really competitive. It was fantastic for her owner Joanne Pullen who loves this mare and has patiently waited for this win, and the amazing Judy Bradwell who trains her at home (Big thankyou too, to team Bradwell at home, Ellie, Nicola and Sophie all work so hard). Shelford Manor next, as well as Maries Wedding! How exciting!!
